Parents helping other parents cope - Show Notes

Sep 10, 2019

No matter where you are in the parenting journey, there are going to be bumps. The band-aid kind and the kind that keep you up many a night wondering what you did wrong and how you are going to get your child back on track.

Information, compassion and support will help you, as a parent, and in turn your child, because if you are not coping - if you are not healthy - it will be tough for you to help your child.

Even if you think it's not your thing...the sharing, the discussion among strangers, you will be surprised how much others who are in the same or similar situations can actually help.

There are resources everywhere.

Here are links to just a few organization in the Greater Toronto Area. If you don't live in the area, check online for what does exist in your area in the way of peer/parenting/youth support groups or the following organizations could direct you.

PFLAG - Pflag Canada is a national charitable organization, founded by parents who wished to help themselves and their family members understand and accept their LGBTQ2S children. The "coming-out" process can be a critical time for families. When the adjustment period is particularly long or painful, relationships can become permanently damaged, resulting in a lifetime of emotional scars. People cannot always rise above the challenge of accepting themselves or their family member, and the results can be devastating, even fatal. We support these families through today, and give them hope for a better tomorrow.
